In honor of Plastic Free July, a month where everyone works together to use less plastic, we’re celebrating kids like you who are making a big difference for our planet! Kids from all over the country have joined our missions to help animals. Some brave ones have even teamed up with Sheriff Pickles in the “More Plastics, More Problems” mission to stop the Single-Use-Plastic (SUP) Gang!
In this mission, we’ve learned how some everyday troublemakers can affect our planet. Plastic villains like the “6-Pack Bandit,” “Victoria Baggins,” and “Plastosaurus” can sneak into the environment and harm animals. These plastics are also hard to recycle and making them adds to climate change.
Celebrating special Earth Rangers
While Plastic Free July is a great time to start making a difference, remember, you can fight plastic all year round! Here’s what Earth Rangers who joined Sheriff Pickles and completed the “More Plastics, More Problems” Mission had to say:
“I love to save the animals and the ocean. Too much plastic ends up in the ocean.” – Earth Ranger Amelia.
Amelia teamed up with her mom for the ‘Cut the SUP’ challenge. Together, they cut straws, water bottles, plastic bags, and six-pack rings from their lives. Her goal is to protect animals, especially marine life, from harmful microplastics. Keep up the great work, Amelia!
“I liked picking up plastic because of the animals. I wanted to help them.” – Earth Ranger Herman.
Ranger Herman and his family set out to reduce takeout containers, water bottles, and plastic shopping bags from their lives. They also cleaned up the woods where they lived. Great job, Herman!
“I want to try to get everyone to stop buying six-pack rings and using produce bags next!” – Earth Ranger Asia.
Earth Ranger Asia competed with her stepdad to see who could do the best in the “Cut the SUP” tracker. The main items she had to stop using were plastic wrap and Ziploc bags. She didn’t need to cut out plastic water bottles because she always brings her reusable ones wherever she goes! Way to go, Asia!
Small changes can make a BIG difference for us and our animal friends. Join Plastic-Free-July today and help cut the SUP!
Say NO to single-use plastics whenever you can. Cut them from your life and join the “More Plastic, More Problems” Mission today!
