Have you ever heard of the Bay of Fundy? It’s between Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, smack dab right in the middle between the equator and the North Pole! You can walk on parts of the ocean floor during low tide and explore the shoreline. Even dinosaur bones and loads of fossils have been found there!
It shore is something to see… and plenty of people love to visit. The problem is, not everyone loves picking up after themselves. There’s almost TWO MILLION pieces of junk on the nearby ocean floor!
As Earth Rangers, we know that shoreline litter, no matter how small, is a BIG problem. It can ruin habitats and hurt animals. Not to mention microplastics… those release lots of harsh chemicals and are easy for animals to accidentally gobble up.
On the bright side, loads of people are ready help—just like you! Last year, almost 20,000 people took part in Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup and they found lots of litter: almost 70,000 lbs worth!
That is a lot of trash to clean up we better get on it!
I got 3/5
