While recording this episode of the Earth Rangers’ Podcast, Emma headed out to a nearby marsh to get the real wetland experience and while there, she discovered some very cool footprints in the mud.

Emma thinks they look like coyote tracks. Do you think she’s right? If not, what animal do you think made these footprints? Let us know in the comments at the bottom of the page.

Transforming from a tadpole to an adult frog isn’t a walk in the park (or a swim in a pond). Almost every organ has to change so they can go from living under water as a tadpole to living on land as an adult frog. This process is called metamorphosis and it’s the time when a frog is most vulnerable. So why do they do it? Emma chatted with Kris, Senior Aquarium Biologist from the Vancouver Aquarium to find out.

According to Kris, one of the reasons why frogs go through metamorphosis is that it can help limit the amount of competition between the adults and the young. For example, since tadpoles eat plants and frogs mostly eat bugs, they don’t have to compete with each other to get enough food. Want to learn more about the stages of a frog’s metamorphosis? After receiving all of your awesome animal impressions and running countless tests, we found out that the Engineer’s amazing Device…doesn’t really work (yet). It doesn’t look like we’re anywhere closer to understanding animals. What a bummer! The Engineer will have to go back to the drawing board but in the meantime, what do you think animals could say if they could talk? Let us know in the comments below.

At the beginning of this episode, Emma told you the name of 4 real frogs and 1 frog that she made up. Do you remember which one was the fake frog? Click through the slide show and see if any of the frogs in these pictures stand out.
