What’s the spikiest animal you know? You could say hedgehog, pufferfish, echidna, even a sea urchin, but nothing compares to the North American porcupine! With over 30,000 quills, these porcupines are the spike champions of the world!
These quills give the porcupine superb protection against predators. They come off easily and have barbs that hook on skin and fur. Once a barb is hooked, it gets pushed deeper and deeper as the predator moves. Talk about ouch!
I’m speechless the only words I can say is wow
So cool! 30000 is a lot! I’ve seen porcupines before and found their quills!
That’s alot of spikes!
So so so amazing! 30,000!
Wow! đŸ˜®
That is really cool! And I thought hedgehogs didn’t have spikes?
It looks like a guinea pig with really deadly spikes. I have a black lunkarya piggy named 8-bit, and he looks almost exactly like that except the spikes are humongous fur tufts. (Spikes are nearly exact same size as 8-bit’s fur) Don’t worry, we don’t keep 8-bit alone. He has an American standard brother named Gaffer. đŸ™‚

Oh my goodness that’s crazy _ Isabelle
Ouch for the predator
