Ramming Rams in a Rut

Did you know that male bighorn sheep are called rams? It’s a name they really live up to when trying to attract a mate! In the fall, two rams will put on a display called a “rut”. That’s where they run at speeds of up to 65 km/h (40 mph) and ram headfirst into each other. It’s a good thing they have super thick and bony skulls that absorb the force, because that would really hurt! Ouch!
