Mission Objective:

Did you know that each year over two billion holiday cards are sent out in North America? It takes over 300,000 trees to make all of these cards, and many of those trees come from Canada’s boreal forest, putting both the forest and its animals at risk. Through the Homemade Holiday Mission, kids will help conserve the boreal forest by making homemade cards out of materials they already have around their home instead of buying new ones.

To complete this Mission, kids will…

  • Read through the Mission Brief to learn how animals like the woodland caribou are impacted by deforestation.
  • Make homemade holiday cards by reusing materials found around their home.
  • Give the cards to their friends and family.

Mission Items:

When members accept this Mission, they receive a Mission Brief that examines the importance of protecting our forests.
