Join Earth Ranger Emma as she sets off on a myth-busting mission across continents to answer one fiery question: were dragons ever real? From the sheep-stealing dragons of medieval England to the mighty dragon myths of ancient China, Emma’s journey is full of wild stories, fossil finds, and mind-blowing science. Tune in and let’s hunt down the truth behind one of humanity’s oldest legends!

Today’s myth brings Earth Ranger Emma over to Nanyang, China, to investigate the river basin for clues about China’s dragon mythology. At XiXia Relic Park she is joined by Professor Li, who shares her paleontology knowledge and passion for dragons.

The Nanyang River basin has among the oldest discovered deposits of dinosaur eggs in the entire world. Covering 78,015 of land, thousands of fossilized eggs have been unearthed here, with more still hidden underground. Mention of these eggs can be traced back to 1920, if not earlier. Of course… with such strange fossils, myths might come from them.

Professor Li has more to share regarding the reach of dragon myths. In Chinese mythology, dragons have a lot more to do with water than fire, Aboriginal Australians have the myth of the “Rainbow Serpent” said to bring water and rain, while in Albanian the dragon “Kulshedra” causes a lack of rain through droughts, breathing fire and shooting lightning.

Dragons, wyverns, serpents, drakes, wyrms, hydras and many more. All share a very lizard-like trait, don’t they? Some have wings, small arms, and missing legs, if someone without science were to discover these, there are a lot of theories that could be made to try to explain them. Some suggest that the sightings of fossilized dinosaurs could be an explanation for the widespread myth of dragons worldwide that goes back more than thousands of years! As scientists discovered what real dinosaurs were like, the myth of the dragon stopped being used…

What’s your favorite type of dragons? Know any other dragon-like creature that wasn’t listed? What legends from around the world have you heard of? Share them with the rest of the Earth Rangers here! Don’t forget – Let us know some other cool cryptids you wish Ryan or Emma talked about! Ryan’s going nuts coming up with some, but why not talk about other cool legends here?

Earth Ranger Emma dives into a ribbiting mystery in Loveland, Ohio! Legend has it that a four-foot-tall frog once roamed the quiet streets at night, wand in its hand and magic in the air. Emma’s on a mission to debunk this tale, but things get wild when she stumbles upon a giant “frog” in the most unexpected place. Is it really a magic-wielding frog army, or just a case of mistaken identity? Join the fun as Emma busts myths, explores the quirky side of small-town folklore, and maybe even learns a dance move or two!

Ryan’s wild quest to prove myths real has Emma visiting another US State: Ohio to investigate the stories of the Loveland Frogman. According to the 1955 start of legend, a creature with a frog-like face was seen standing on two legs, some versions even detailing it holding a wand with magic sparkles.

Ryan takes this legend even further, theorizing that the frogmen are “Secret Scientists” who escaped from a top-secret laboratory. That’d make a fun book or movie…but that’s far from the truth!

Sure, some frogs, like the tiger-legged monkey frog, prefer walking rather than hopping, but no specials can stand and walk around on two legs the way humans do. There’s also the strange detail about “leathery skin,” which is unlike any real frog—frog skin is smooth and moist, not leathery like a lizard’s. Just looking at these two photos, it’s clear how different the skin “texture” of a frog and a lizard is.

Speaking of lizards – it’s believed that it’s an iguana that people might have mistaken for a frog! In 1972 police officer Ray Shockey reported a sighting of a creature looking a lot like the frogman of the legends. Two weeks later, a colleague of his Mark Matthews saw and shot an animal that fit the description. After picking it up, the police realized that this animal was a green iguana that had dropped its tail!

Like many other lizards, iguanas can drop their tails. They do this when they feel threatened and use it as a way to surprise and distract potential predators. Don’t worry! They have a special regenerative ability to grow back their bone and skin. They get to have their tail back after a few months!

There you have it, Earth Rangers! The legend of the Loveland Frogman was solved when it was revealed to be an iguana. It could still have been a cool lizardman story, but most people like to “embellish” details to make them more fantastical and surreal.

What do you think of the Loveland Frogman Legend? Do you think it’d have been cooler if it had been a lizardman?
Let us know some other cool cryptids you wish Ryan or Emma talked about! Ryan’s going nuts coming up with some, but why not talk about other cool legends here?

Get ready to dive into the depths of mystery and mayhem with Earth Ranger Emma on a spooktacular Halloween adventure! Emma’s on the hunt to uncover the truth about the legendary Kraken—could a real-life sea monster be lurking below the waves? From ghostly shipwrecks to giant squids and kookaburra-filled Australian journeys, this episode has it all! Tune in for spine-tingling tales, myth-busting surprises, and maybe even a little penguin playground fun! Perfect for curious Earth Rangers and thrill-seekers alike!

Today Emma flies all the way to Australia to prove Ryan wrong… but she’s in a special surprise this time! The creature she’s investigating today is a special sea monster… THE KRAKEN!

The kraken is said to have been the cause of many shipwrecks. A giant squid or octopus capable of wrapping its tentacles and dragging sailors and their ships down. HOWEVER, unlike our good ol’ Nessie that Emma debunked two episodes ago, the Kraken might be more than just a folklore monster created to teach people about the dangers of the ocean.

There is a very real animal who might have inspired these legends: the giant squid!

The giant squid lives up to its name: it’s so big – almost the size of a car! Its tentacles are long, just as long as Emma is tall. It very well could wrap itself around a ship, probably not take it down but certainly give sailors a good scare and capsize smaller boats. They are aggressive, especially if they mistake a boat or human for prey or feel threatened.

Compared to the legend of the Kraken, “Giant Squid” isn’t nearly as cool a name… but it has just as terrifying a reputation! Diver beware… don’t go angering the giant squids, you might experience what it’s like to fact the real-world kraken.

What do you think of the Kraken Monster Legend? What do you think of its real counterpart?

Join Earth Ranger Emma for a deep dive into one of history’s most infamous cryptids – the Mothman. Is the truth as spooky as the legend suggests? While Ryan is wrapped up in tales of red-eyed monsters, Emma’s on a mission to sift through the fluff and uncover the real facts. With her science smarts and a knack for debunking myths, Emma’s ready to reveal what might really be lurking in the shadows. Tune in to discover the truth behind the legend!

Ryan’s at it again! In his next episode of “Earth Investigators” he’s talking about the infamous “mothman” cryptid. This has led his rival, our friend Emma to travel to Point Pleasant, West Virginia, where the legend first made its appearance.

Mention of mothman first started in 1966, when a group of friends reported seeing a “tall man” with white wings and glowing red eyes. After this, the story spread like wildfire! People all over Point Pleasant spoke of seeing a creature with red glowing eyes, a large bird or man.

Today, scientists believe that these people mistook the sandhill crane for a monster and spread a legend. In fact… a lot of the details that started the legend sound VERY close to this bird. Large white wings… red eyes… AND THEY’RE SUPER TALL! Big wings of roughly 6’5” in length, that’s larger than the average adult.

Yup, this isn’t a monster but a real animal. The thing is – people of Point Pleasant wouldn’t have had a chance to see a sandhill crane normally. These birds are closer to the middle of the country in Washington, Oregon, California, and Mexico—but never West Virginia. They likely accidentally found themselves flown off-course during their migration flight, landing in the little town of Point Pleasant and spooking its residents. If spooked, these birds would likely spread their wings and take flight, and their eyes reflect in the car lights.

Some might find the sandhill crane to be rather boring compared to the story of mothman. How cool would it be to have a half-man half-moth? They are far from boring! Think of the crazy adventures these sandhill cranes had to have experienced, flying off course and scaring locals. It’s quite a funny story in fact!

What do you think of the Mothman Legend? Do you wish it was real? Do you like the fact they’re really Sandhill Crane?

Join Earth Ranger Emma on an adventure to the misty Scottish Highlands, where she tackles one of the world’s greatest mysteries: the Loch Ness Monster! Is Nessie just a tall tale, or could there be something lurking beneath those murky waters? While Ryan is determined to prove the monster’s existence, Emma sets off on a mission to uncover the truth with a splash of science, a bit of history, and a few surprises. Will she find the Loch Ness Monster, or just more fish tales? Tune in to find out!

Ryan’s back…and he’s started a new podcast “Earth Investigators”. But there’s one problem – it’s shares a ton of info that’s wrong! Ryan’s on a mission to prove creatures like mothman or the yeti are real. These myths have been spread for ages, are fun tales… but they’re not real! Emma is determined to debunk them with science and facts and prove that many cryptid sightings can be linked to some very real – yet no less fascinating animals.

Emma’s first myth-busting adventure takes her to the heart of Scotland to a special freshwater loch: Loch Ness! She’s here to investigate the renowned Loch Ness Monster, or Nessie for short.

Word of Nessie’s existence first began back in the 7th Century, when a medieval monk named Adomnán wrote a book describing a dangerous beast who swam the waters of the River and Loch. The legend, not too unlike the grim fairy tales, was supposed to warn the people of that time to stay safe. Especially during stormy and dark nights, the idea of a monster out there will keep reckless swimmers from getting into danger.

The legend was then passed down through the generations, especially showing up in the 1930s when Robert Kenneth Wilson supposedly took “the surgeon’s photograph” to prove Nessie’s existence. This photo was revealed to be a hoax, crafted out of a toy submarine and wood putty pieces.

Earlier the same year that the photo was taken, Arthur Grant reported that thought he’d passed by the monster on his motorcycle. It is believed that he mistook a seal or an otter in the dark and exaggerated the encounter. As technology has advanced sonar readings of the loch prove that there is no monster swimming in its waters…

What do you think of the Loch Ness Monster Legend? Do you wish it was real?

Have you ever wondered what arctic research is really like? Today I’m talking to not 1, not 2 but 3 real-life scientists who help to protect animals in the arctic. Bundle up and tune in!

Emma’s interviewed THREE amazing scientists: Yifeng Wang, Katie Florko, and Nick Paroshy. These three have been working hard high up in the cold to help Polar Bears, Ringed Seals, and Caribou. Your help has allowed Earth Rangers to fund their research by sending money from plush adoption kits to save these beautiful animals.

But because of climate change, caribou are having a harder time finding food to eat and places to live. Polar bears who rely on sea ice for food, struggle because their habitat keeps melting as temperatures rise. Ringed seals depend on this ice for food and protection from predators, making it hard for them to protect and feed themselves.

Katie Florko has been in charge of studying how to protect ringed seals. Working in Churchill, her job to fly over the arctic to find ringed seals and fit them with special tags that track how they move and act underwater. If we understand where seals go, and what they do, we can learn more about how to protect them and their habitat. Once the data collected, she traveled to Tokyo, Japan, to share her discoveries with scientists from all around the world!

Earth Rangers across Canada adopted over 250 ringed seals to help her with this project. That’s an incredible amount!

Over the summer, Yifeng Wang went to the permafrost peatlands to collect data to predict how the permafrost might respond to climate warming. As the climate warms, shrubs growing in areas that used to be shrub-free making the permafrost thaw, which means that caribou have less access to food and water. In winter she went to Labrador to work with the communities there to organize events to help everyone learn and come up with solutions to together to fight climate change and protect the peatlands together.

She’s been able to do this thanks to the incredible help of 150 Earth Rangers who adopted caribou plushies. You too can help Caribou research by supporting scientist Claudia Haas by adopting a caribou of your own in the Earth Rangers store!

Nick Paroshy traveled up to the Arctic Circle to learn all about how polar bears move across their territory, and how we can help them when this land changes. From the safety of a helicopter, Nick will fly all over the Beaufort Sea to scout polar bears, and tag them to track their movements. To do this, they need to tranquilize the bears, since humans cannot safely approach these majestic predators.

An amazing 478 Earth Rangers helped Nick in saving Polar bears! You contribution has been a huge support!

Want to help out too? Go check out the current animal plush kits in the Earth Rangers shop – all of them are tied to real scientific research and will support these people in saving the animals you adopt! Don’t have any money to buy a plushy? Don’t worry! Wildlife adoptions aren’t the only way you can protect animals! Small actions, like challenges and missions, can go a huge way to helping fight for animals.

This will be our last episode for a while – Emma took the rest of the summer to prepare for her next adventure (a really special one at that!). Don’t worry – we’ll be back soon with a brand-new season and it will definitely be worth the wait.

Did you learn anything from Emma’s meetup with these super-scientists? Were you one of the cool Earth Rangers who had helped support their work? Which animal did you adopt? A comment below!

Our 100th Episode Celebration comes to an end! Emma has been kind enough to be interviewed not just once, not just twicebut THREE times by Earth Ranger Nat from Quest for the Best to answer some of YOUR burning questions!

This last interview has a small surprise… today Emma and Nat are joined by two special guests! Ryan and Adelia set some time aside to answer some of the questions a few of you had for them! Are you ready to find out what they had to say?

What is Emma’s favorite food?

EMMA: “Trail Mix! Trail mix is my go-to snack when I’m out exploring the wilderness! It’s packed with energy from nuts, seeds, and dried fruits, which keeps me fueled up for long hikes and wildlife sightings. I love how convenient and portable it is—perfect for trekking through remote areas where there’s no access to fresh food. Plus, it’s a tasty treat that satisfies my hunger while I’m busy documenting the natural world around me. Trail mix is a must-have for any wildlife adventure!”

What is Emma’s favorite part about being a podcast host?

EMMA: “Being a podcaster lets me tell amazing stories about animals and how we can help them. I love talking to experts and sharing their adventures with everyone who listens. It’s like taking you on a fun trip to learn about animals and why it’s important to take care of them and their homes. Each episode is a chance to make a big difference and get everyone excited about nature!”

Does Emma podcast every day or once a week?

EMMA: “I generally try to post one podcast episode per week, but being a wildlife reporter means I have lots of other important responsibilities too. I’m often out in the field, observing animals, writing articles, and spreading awareness about conservation. So, while I can’t podcast as often as I’d like, I make sure each episode is full of exciting stories and helpful tips for everyone who loves animals and nature like I do.”

What does Emma do for fun when she isn’t working for Earth Rangers?

EMMA: “When I’m not busy exploring the wild and reporting on amazing animals, I love to have all sorts of fun!

One of my favorite things to do is hiking. I strap on my boots, grab my backpack, and hit the trails! I always bring my trusty camera to snap pictures of all the cool plants and animals I see. Sometimes, I even find secret spots where I can sit quietly and watch the wildlife – like a real-life nature detective!

When I’m at home, I love curling up with a good adventure book or watching awesome wildlife documentaries. They give me great ideas for my next big adventure! To stay fit and relaxed, I practice yoga and meditation. It helps me stay calm and ready for any wild surprises nature might throw my way.”

You love him, you hate him, it’s Ryan!
Seeing Emma’s last two interviews, Ryan reached out to Nat to ask if anyone had questions for him…and you did!
Here’s what he’s got to say:

What is the most exciting adventure Ryan has been on?

RYAN: “The most exciting adventure I’ve been on? Oh, please, I’ve had so many “adventures” I can barely keep track. But if I have to pick one, it was probably the time I was on a safari in Africa. I was lounging in the jeep, sipping on a soda, when suddenly a lion roared right next to us. Everyone else was freaking out, but I just rolled my eyes and thought, “Great, now I’ll have to talk about this forever.” It was scary for them, I guess, but for me, it was just another day in the life of a wildlife superstar.”

What is Ryan’s favorite rarest animal in the world?

RYAN: “My favorite rarest animal in the world? Ugh, do I really have to pick just one?”

NAT: “I mean…the listeners did ask? Wouldn’t it be nice to answer them?”

RYAN:Fine. Let’s go with the Javan Rhino. Why? Because it’s super rare, which means if I talk about it, people will think I know my stuff. Plus, it sounds exotic and impressive, perfect for boosting my fame.”

What is Ryan’s favorite food?

RYAN: My favorite food? Easy. It’s pizza, of course. I mean, who doesn’t love pizza? It’s quick, it’s tasty, and I can eat it while watching TV or scrolling through my social media. Plus, it’s way better than any of that fancy wildlife food Emma talks about.

Are Emma and Ryan now friends?

NAT: “I’ll answer this for him! After Ryan had a change of heart, he realized how much he could learn from Emma and how important it is to care about wildlife and the environment. They started working together more, and Ryan’s attitude improved a lot. Now, Emma and Ryan are great friends! They support each other, share amazing stories about animals, and have worked as a team to inspire others to protect our planet.

I’ve noticed from checking in with him that Ryan even started picking up some of Emma’s good habits, like being more respectful and hardworking. Emma says it’s made their adventures even more fun and meaningful!”

Emma’s connections to the Serpents and Adelia Goodwin mean when some of you had a few questions for our mysterious and elusive conservationist, Nat could easily pass them on! Adelia was more than happy to answer some of them!

What is Adelia’s favorite color? And why?

ADELIA: “My favorite color is the bright, sunny yellow of a bird called the Golden Pheasant. Yellow reminds me of the vibrant feathers of this beautiful bird, which I once had the joy of seeing in the wild.

Yellow is such a cheerful and warm color. It reminds me of the way the Golden Pheasant’s feathers shine like the sun, bringing light and joy to the forest. Whenever I see the color yellow, I think of that magnificent bird and all the wonderful creatures that add color and beauty to our world.”

What is the rarest animal Adelia has ever seen?

ADELIA: “Ah, the rarest animal I’ve ever seen, what a delightful question! I’ve been fortunate to encounter many rare creatures in my time, but the one that stands out the most is the critically endangered vaquita. The vaquita is a small porpoise found only in the northern part of the Gulf of California in Mexico. With fewer than 20 individuals left in the wild, they are one of the rarest marine mammals in the world.

I remember the day vividly. It was a calm and sunny afternoon on the Gulf. We were on a research boat, scanning the waters with binoculars, hoping for a glimpse of this elusive creature. After hours of waiting, there it was – a vaquita surfaced nearby, its distinctive dark rings around its eyes and mouth visible. It was such a brief moment, but seeing this rare and gentle creature took my breath away.

The vaquita’s situation is dire, mostly due to illegal fishing practices that entangle them in nets. Witnessing this precious animal reinforced my commitment to conservation and the urgent need to protect these beautiful and fragile species. Every action we take to help conserve their habitat and prevent illegal fishing can make a big difference in saving these incredible creatures.”

What is Adelia’s favorite rarest animal in the world?

ADELIA: “My favorite rarest animal in the world? Oh my, I must say, the pangolin holds a special place in my heart. Pangolins are fascinating creatures with their unique armor of scales, and they are, sadly, one of the most trafficked animals in the world.

Many years ago, during my travels in Southeast Asia, I had the incredible opportunity to observe a pangolin in the wild. It was a shy and gentle little creature, curling up into a ball when it felt threatened. Watching it move and forage for ants and termites was an enchanting experience.

Pangolins are so rare and special because of their unique adaptations and the crucial role they play in their ecosystems by controlling insect populations.”

What is the most uncanny, scary or cool adventure Adelia has been on?

ADELIA: “Oh dear, what a lovely question! There have been so many adventures in my long life, but one that stands out happened many years ago. I was in the savannas of Africa. I was there to study a pride of lions, the magnificent kings and queens of the grasslands.

One evening, just as the sun was setting, I decided to follow a lioness who seemed to be on a mission. Quietly and carefully, I trailed her through the tall grass. Suddenly, she stopped and crouched low, her eyes fixed on a herd of wildebeests grazing nearby. I knew I was about to witness something extraordinary.

With incredible speed and grace, the lioness sprang into action, chasing down one of the wildebeests. The power and agility of the lioness were awe-inspiring. She managed to catch her prey and brought it back to her cubs, who were waiting eagerly. It was a reminder of the circle of life and the important role every creature plays in its ecosystem.

Afterward, as the stars twinkled above us, I felt a deep sense of gratitude for being able to witness such an event. It made me realize once more how vital it is to conserve these beautiful creatures and their habitats. The world is full of wonder, and every animal has its own unique story to tell.”

Thank you so much everyone for coming together to celebrate Emma’s 100th Episode and share your questions! We hope you enjoyed the answers as much as Emma and company enjoyed sharing their answers with you!
This is our last interview (for now), but remember to keep on rangin’!

Today I’m talking to conservation biologist Megan Quinn who works with the Nature Conservancy of Canada. Together we will find out all about the amazing biodiversity of an area of Canada called the Frontenac Arc!

Emma is visiting an unusual spot this episode: A Wildlife corridor!

What is a wildlife corridor, exactly? It is a special path that helps connect different areas of nature so animals can travel safely from one to the other without getting hurt. Some animals who migrate need to cross busy roads, cities or farmlands to get to their home. These corridors offer animals a safe green-space away from cars and people, which is important for their survival.

While exploring the Frontenac Arch, a HUGE wildlife corridor that connects the northern forests of Algonquin Park, Canada, with the Adirondacks in New York State, United States. This one isn’t just set up across one city or highway but across two countries! The Frontenac Arch is critical for the survival of several wildlife species including the river otter, moose, and eastern wolf.

During her tour, Emma bumped into Megan Quinn, a conservation biologist who works with the Nature Conservancy of Canada. Megan has worked actively on habitat restoration to help the species of animals that reside in the Frontenac Arch. Species like the buckthorn are invasive to the area and need to be hand-removed by rangers and volunteers like Megan. She also records different observations across the property, to help the team at NCC decide what to do next.

You too can help! Head to the Adoptions Section in the Earth Rangers App or visit the Earth Rangers Shop to get your Adoption Kit and help make a difference today! You might get lucky and find an eastern wolf, river otter or moose plush that directly help Megan save the animals of the Frontenac Arch!

How cool are wildlife corridors?! If you could put one down ANYWHERE in the world, where would you have it go? Drop a comment below!

A couple of weeks ago, Earth Ranger Nat (from Quest for the Best) shared with Emma YOUR questions. You guys had so many that we had to break the interview up so our intrepid wildlife reporter could continue her adventures! We’re back today with several more questions for Emma.

What drives Emma to be so proactive with wildlife and nature?

EMMA: “My deep love for animals and the environment drives me to be so active with wildlife and nature. Ever since I was little, I’ve loved learning about animals and their homes. Knowing that many animals are in danger and our environment needs help makes me want to do something about it.

As a wildlife reporter and podcaster for Earth Rangers, I get to share cool stories about animals and teach others how they can help. I believe that if we all work together, we can make a big difference and protect our planet for the future.”

Which animal did Emma enjoy saving the most?

EMMA: “The Jefferson Salamander: Protecting Jefferson Salamanders has been such an amazing experience for me! These little guys are crucial for the ecosystem, and they’re also a threatened species, so every effort to save them counts. I love working to protect their habitats and ensure they have a safe place to thrive. It’s incredibly rewarding to see them doing well and know that I’m making a difference for a species that needs our help.”

What is Emma’s favorite rarest animal in the world?

EMMA: “The Northern Sportive Lemur (Lepilemur septentrionalis) – This small lemur species is endemic to Madagascar and is considered one of the rarest primates in the world, with an estimated population of fewer than 50 individuals.”

Has Emma ever been interested in going to space?

EMMA: “Exploring space has always fascinated me, but my heart truly belongs to Earth and its incredible wildlife. While the idea of venturing into space is thrilling, my passion lies in uncovering and protecting the amazing diversity of life right here on our planet. Every day brings discoveries and challenges in the natural world that are just as awe-inspiring as the mysteries of space. I believe that by understanding and conserving Earth’s ecosystems and wildlife, we can ensure a sustainable future for all species, including our own.”

How many animals has Emma helped?

EMMA: “So far I have supported every single wildlife adoptions program (And I have a big shelf full of plushies to prove it.) I think the final count as of today is 46 stuffed animals. Of course in real life that means that A LOT more animals have benefited from this work.”

Does Emma have an avatar in the Earth Rangers app, and can we see what it looks like?

EMMA: “Sure! I love how cool I can make one’s avatar look in the app, like giving it wings and neat hats. But for my own I like to try keeping it as close to how I look as possible.”

What level in the app is Emma on??

EMMA: “Level 105, BABY!”

You asked, she answered!

A season ago, Emma celebrated her 100th Episode. For this, Emma teamed up with Earth Ranger Nat (from the Quest for the Best) to gather YOUR questions for the first of a series of interviews. It’s about time we hear her answers!!

What is Emma’s favorite colour?

EMMA: “My favorite colour? Oh, that would be green, without a doubt. Green is the color of life, nature, and renewal. It reminds me of the lush forests, vibrant meadows, and all the wonderful plants that provide homes and food for countless creatures.

Every time I see the colour green, it fills me with a sense of peace and hope. It symbolizes growth and the incredible beauty of our natural world. From the leaves of a towering tree to the delicate fronds of a fern, green is everywhere in nature, reminding us of the precious and delicate balance we must protect.”

What is Emma’s favorite song?

EMMA: “Easy! “Circle of Life” by Elton John and “Born to Be Wild” by Steppenwolf”

What is Emma’s top favorite animal of all time?

EMMA: “Honestly, I can’t choose just one favorite animal because I genuinely love all of them! Each animal has its own unique qualities and fascinating behaviors that make it special. Whether it’s the intelligence of dolphins, the grace of cheetahs, the intricate social structures of ants, or the sheer power of a tiger, I find every species incredible in its own way. I just have so much respect and admiration for the entire animal kingdom, and I feel like every creature deserves appreciation and love.”

What is Emma’s favorite creepy but cool creatures of all time?

EMMA: “I know some people find octopuses creepy with their squishy bodies and eight arms, but they are so cool! They’re incredibly smart—able to solve puzzles and open jars. Their camouflage skills are off the charts, changing color and texture in seconds. Each arm can move independently, they have three hearts and blue blood, and they can even squirt ink to escape predators. Plus, they can regenerate lost limbs! Octopuses are like the superheroes of the ocean.”

Emma when she was out exploring the marshlands in episode 6.

When did Emma start being an Earth Rangers?

EMMA: “Believe it or not, I became an Earth Ranger when I was only 8 years old. Our school had a visit from an Earth Rangers show team and I got to meet Cosmo the Lemur and Sonic the Barn owl for the first time. That was a long time ago, and I had a long way to go and many things to learn to get from there to here, but that was the moment I signed up to become a member and I knew I wanted to work here.”

Why was Emma chosen for the podcast in the first place?

EMMA: “I was chosen to be a wildlife reporter because of my deep passion for animals and the natural world. Ever since I was little, I’ve been fascinated by wildlife and spent countless hours reading about different species and their habitats. I’ve always loved sharing what I learn with others, whether it’s through writing, social media, or just talking to friends and family. Plus, I’ve had some amazing hands-on experiences, like volunteering at local animal shelters and participating in wildlife conservation projects. My enthusiasm, combined with my commitment to educating others about the importance of conservation, really stood out. I think my genuine love for wildlife and my ability to communicate that excitement effectively made me the perfect fit for this role.”

What is the most creepy/uncanny/scary adventure Emma has ever been on?

EMMA: “Oh that would have to be time I went on an overnight research expedition in the Great Bear Rainforest! That time I met a g-ghost bear!”

What is Emma’s favorite animal myth?

EMMA: There are many! I’ve been looking into a lot of myths lately. Stay tuned for the next season to find out more!!!

Does Emma have any future plans as an Earth Ranger?

EMMA: “I can’t even begin to describe how thrilled I am to be a wildlife reporter! Every day, I get to explore the incredible wonders of the natural world and share them with others. From documenting the migration patterns of birds to uncovering the secrets of deep-sea creatures, it’s like living in a never-ending adventure. I love educating people about the importance of conservation and the amazing diversity of life on our planet.

What excites me most is that there’s always something new to discover, and I get to be on the front lines, telling those stories. I’m so passionate about wildlife and the environment, and I can’t wait to continue doing this for many years to come. There’s no greater joy than inspiring others to appreciate and protect the natural world!”
