About Us
Our Mission
To create a generation of conservationists
Earth Rangers is the charity that transforms children’s concerns about the environment into positive action. When a child becomes an Earth Ranger, they become an animal saving hero, developing confidence that they can make a difference and optimism about the future.
Through a variety of programs and content, we empower kids to become environmental leaders at home, in school and in their communities. From organizing shoreline clean-ups, to creating backyard animal habitats, to reducing food waste and energy consumption at home, our members are committed to leaving the world better than they found it – and having a whole lot of fun doing it.
Our Strategy
Always innovating, always growing
Growing to reach and engage a third of Canadian kids in our programs.
Deepening our understanding of eco-anxiety by contributing new findings, recommendations, and resources on the issue.
Building in exciting new ways, such as providing engagement opportunities for older youth and expanding into the United States.
Tovah Barocas
President
Tovah Barocas is the President of Earth Rangers, a Canadian charity dedicated to empowering children to protect animals and the environment. Since joining the organization in 2009, she has helped shape Earth Rangers into one of the largest youth-focused conservation programs in the world, with over 400,000 members across North America.
Tovah began her career at Earth Rangers in a fundraising role and has since led a wide range of initiatives—from launching French-language programming to leading Earth Rangers research on eco-anxiety, and expanding the organization’s presence in the United States. She was appointed President in 2019 and continues to focus on building meaningful partnerships and ensuring that young people feel informed, inspired, and capable of making a difference.
Originally from Miami, Tovah moved to Toronto to attend university and has since built her career in Canada’s non-profit sector. She serves on the boards of Ontario Parks and Project Learning Tree Canada and was named one of Canada’s Clean50 Emerging Leaders in recognition of her work in environmental education. Tovah is also one of the founders of the Nature Education Collective, a group of organizations championing quality nature education for children and youth to ensure they become environmentally literate and build generations of sustainability-minded, action-oriented, and resilient people.
Tovah is passionate about youth engagement, public education, and the role of optimism in addressing environmental challenges.
