When heroes and honorary Earth Rangers from Seal Rescue Ireland saved Spruce, the baby seal, they were worried that he’d never grow big enough to go back to the wild. But Spruce was determined! And after months of fish school, heated bath mats, and one… giant green brain…Spruce was finally ready to go home to where he belongs: the wild ocean!

Special thanks to our friends at Seal Rescue Ireland, Wexford, Ireland.

Seal Rescue Ireland

Seal Rescue Ireland is the only seal rescue in the Republic of Ireland, so the work they do is absolutely vital. With the help of over 600 volunteers, they monitor more than 3,100 km of coastline. They’re on the lookout for seals that are sick or injured, as well as pups that have been orphaned.

When volunteers find a seal in need, they take it to the Seal Hospital, where it’s nursed back to health. Some seals need to rest and recover for weeks, sometimes months! But the team is ready for it. They monitor each one until they are ready to be released back into the wild.

Seal Rescue Ireland isn’t just a friend to seals, but to all ocean life. Through education and community outreach, Seal Rescue Ireland encourages people to learn about marine conservation and sustainability. All of that hard work makes them honorary Earth Rangers in our books!
