This October, in honour of Waste Reduction Week Earth Rangers and Call2Recycle are partnering on a program where elementary schools in British Columbia will compete for who can collect the most used batteries and for the chance to win 1 of 3 amazing cash prizes.

Did you know that properly recycling your batteries can help protect animals? Batteries that go in the garbage end up in landfills, adding to solid waste that can be harmful to the environment. You can do your part to make sure more batteries are recycled by participating in the Battery Blitz School Mission Challenge! 

Here’s How it Works:

1. 1. Register (see below) your school before Friday October 8^th at 5pm PST
   2. Once you’ve registered, you will receive challenge resources including rules and regulations, parent take home piece, school poster and additional information on battery recycling to help with your collection
   3. Challenge kicks off Monday October 18^th, 2021
   4. Challenge ends Monday November 8, 2021
   5. Battery collection boxes will be sent to your school, and students, parents, staff and community members will have a 3-week period to bring in their used batteries
   6. We want to hear about your efforts – take pictures and post to social media
   7. After your 3-week period of battery collection is completed, your school must call Purolator at 1-888-744-7123 to have your battery collection boxes picked up
   8. All batteries will be collected and weighed and the top 3 schools will be announced in December!
   9. Virtual cheque presentation will be coordinated with the winning school(s)
