Did You Know?
Take Action to Protect Polar Bears
The best way to help polar bears is to conserve their natural habitat - this means taking action to reduce the effects of climate change on the polar regions. Temperatures in the Arctic are rising twice as fast as the global average leaving polar bears stranded on sea ice with less time to hunt and find a mate. Sea ice loss caused by climate change poses the single biggest threat to polar bear populations.
By completing ‘Eco Activity #76: 3 Steps to Keep Cool’, you can focus on three ways to save energy - borrowing a tip from each of our energy conscious missions, like Operation Conservation, Flip the Switch, and Re-set the ‘Stat! Saving energy helps us combat climate change AND save the polar bears from losing their habitat!
If you would like to take your action a step further, become an Earth Ranger to adopt your very own polar bear! Adopting a polar bear supports researchers in studying the effects of climate change on polar bear populations in order to help them thrive!
Become an Earth Ranger to access the Operation Conservation Mission! This Mission helps to tackle energy waste in the home. But how does wasting energy affect polar bears?! When energy is wasted, this means it is generated unnecessarily which then contributes to climate change!
